Each July, it’s our pleasure to introduce new furniture designs at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market, and we can’t wait to show off the pieces we’re most excited about later this month. We’ve introduced several new looks in Gabby’s Tailored Collection, and they can be personalized with a wide range of custom upholstery options to get just the right look for the space you’re designing.
Here’s a sneak peek at what makes this year’s collection so exciting:
Gabby’s Transitional Style
Gabby’s upholstered seating is classic, but with a twist that allows us to stand out from the crowd. The beauty of this collection is that it will work with just about any design from formal to family style. Whether you’re working on a traditional design with soft florals and Victorian influences or a shabby-chic, French country design, the transitional nature of our upholstered seating makes it work in a wide range of rooms. It’s equally at home in an industrial space or a sleek, modern living room with bold pops of color.
What makes Gabby’s transitional furniture work so well as a bridge between styles and sensibilities? First, our careful attention to proportion is important. You’ll find a thoughtful balance in our furniture that keeps the arms, legs, and overall shape of the pieces from veering too far in any one stylistic direction. We maintain a similar tension between straight and curved lines as well. Transitional design is very much a yin-yang proposition, balancing clean lines with unexpected details in each piece. Below, the Abbott sectional sofa nicely exemplifies this core principle of transitional style.
Gabby’s Custom Finishes
The devil is in the details, but once you decide on the Gabby design that’s right for your space, you’ll have loads of opportunities to put the theory to the test. This year’s designs are distinguished by their wood frames, nailhead trim, and customizable upholstery. In our Tailored collection, each integral detail is customizable, so you have hundreds of fabric and trim combinations to choose from when designing your unique living room.
For example, our stylistically relevant nailhead accents come in five different finishes to achieve the perfect look: Nickel, Brass, Antique Brass, Antique Nickel, and Black Nickel. From bright and shiny to dark and dramatic, these details matter. Exposed wood framing and legs are available in dark Metropolitan, airy Natural, warm Walnut, or on-trend Distressed Gray finishes.
The main choice, of course, is the upholstery. Choose from over 100 varieties of made-in-the-U.S.A. fabrics in solid colors, textured weaves, and performance fabrics like Sunbrella for carefree living at its most beautiful. We are also proud to offer eight different full-grain, dyed leathers from around the world as a luxurious option that looks especially chic in select designs featuring nailhead detailing. Whether you choose a traditional understated linen, a standout explosion of color, or an unexpected pattern, designing seating for your room has never been more fun.
Gabby’s Quality Construction
At Gabby, we believe that our beautiful, timeless designs should be enjoyed for years to come. The Tailored Upholstery Collection is made right here in the U.S.A for outstanding quality and design.
The frames of our upholstered chairs are made of solid hardwood and engineered hardwood laminates for superior strength. Joinery is interlocking and glued, and high-stress joints that bear the brunt of the weight are also blocked for added durability. Springs are made of heavy-gauge sinuous wire for excellent support and maintenance of shape. In certain pieces where springs aren’t an option, we use webbed seat bases for durable, flexible support.
Finally, both of our cushion choices are made of environmentally-friendly soy, a renewable resource used to fashion a high-density, high-resilience foam core for each cushion. For added softness and superior comfort, the foam core is wrapped in a blend of local North American waterfowl feathers and finished with a down-proof cover to keep feathers firmly in place. Our spring down cushion upgrade has an imbedded coil spring and extra down feathers for a more plush sit. Both cushion options combine the softness of down with the durability of engineered foam for a chair that feels as good as it looks.
A Few of Our Favorite Looks
From unique fabrics to dynamic nailhead designs, we are pleased to offer a myriad of options for customizing Gabby’s transitional furniture. Through our lifestyle photos below, we hope to provide you with inspiration that will assist you in creating your living space.
Multiple textures abound in this space, as evidenced by the rustic stone wall and faux animal skin rug. There are four different tailored chairs here that work together to create an eclectic look that’s united by the same nailhead trim. The Jacelyn sofa and Gayle twin bench feature the same creamy upholstery, while the Porter and Willow swivel chairs are finished in shades of gray. We especially love the way the curves of the dark Willow chairs echo those of the nearby Gayle bench.
The white Layla sectional looks casually elegant, yet fully tailored thanks to the controlled curve of the structured arms. The nailhead trim with a bright brass finish complements the gold leaf in the mirror and brass end table, creating one of our favorite on-trend color combinations—white and gold. The slate blue pillows and tabletop add some personality and keep the look from ever being too old fashioned in this formal, yet functional, living room.
The above photo of our Atlanta showroom features a mix of neutral tones, but nothing could be more interesting. We like the combination of the light pine cabinet with varying shades of white and tan in the rug and seating. The Baldwin chair’s extra nailhead detailing sets it apart, but the curvature of its arm matches those of the nearby Helena swivel chair and Liam sofa. The result is an eclectic, yet unified look.
In another photo of our Atlanta showroom above, these chairs and sofa were designed with individual personality, but also intended to form a cohesive look. The white Nora chair naturally looks great across from its partner, the Nora sofa (though the upholstered legs of the larger piece make it a stand-out). Creating dynamic contrast with these two is the dark gray Theo chair, which is cleverly linked to the other seating with dark gray throw pillows on the sofa.
With several ways to create your own unique Gabby piece, the hardest part of designing your room may be narrowing down the choices. It’s a good problem to have, though, and we’re excited to see how you customize the transitional furniture in Gabby’s Tailored Collection of Custom Upholstery to design one-of-a-kind transitional rooms and custom spaces.
