Transitional style is all about classic pieces that offer a contemporary twist. So when we design a furniture line, we strive for high-end style with classic silhouettes that are eclectic, versatile and unique.
One way we add transitional uniqueness to our products is giving a single piece multiple, surprising functionality.
Here are some of our favorite Gabby designs to which we’ve added that special, surprising element.
Our Gilbert Cigar Table has a great vintage, art deco feel with its solid iron base and white bone top. The table functions nicely as an accent table when paired with a settee or chair, but its one-sided based accomplishes a few things:
- It allows the table to slide under a sofa or chair bottom, which works well in smaller spaces.
- Because it’s open on one side, the piece can also double as a small laptop desk or food tray.
A natural inlay of horn and a soft brass finish make the Lacy Bar Cart the perfect piece from which to serve cocktails in a dining room. But the bar cart has a feature that allows this classic to move about as needed—and it’s not just the rolling casters: Both trays on the bar cart are fully removable.
The Luther Cabinet is a showstopper with its curved iron base and linen-blend fabric panels accentuated with brass studs. But we also wanted the cabinet to be worthy of storing all media needs, from DVD players to receivers and gaming consoles—all the while keeping the electronic clutter hidden. That’s why we added fold-down drawer facades to the front and drilled holes at the back of the piece.
The Olivia Coffee Table‘s oval-shaped limestone top and brass lines are an exceptional example of transitional style. The coffee table fits perfectly in front of a sofa or settee … or it splits apart to create two occasional tables that can be moved around a room.
