This Spring High Point Market has been a wonderful and rewarding time to see old friends, meet new people and learn from the top interior design thought leaders. Located at IHFC W-168, the Gabby private entrance on Wrenn Street continues to be a great landmark for clients to be able to find us, as well as a convenient drop off point. But most importantly, it allows us to stay open a little bit late to shop, party and have a cocktail. We’re a little smaller, so we work harder for you. Here’s the intel we gathered while putting in late nights:
Many manufacturers introduced higher end, whole-home furniture collections, as well as smaller micro collections. There were more niche-specific designs as manufacturers are beginning to find their originality and voice again as they recover from the recession. Mid-century modern and French designs dominated the market with trends including exotic wood veneers, antiqued gold and silver highlights. We saw distressed finishes, larger scale items and furniture like standing desks to be used for longer periods of time. Fabrics that stood out looked of hand made quality like batik, ikat or navajo patterns.
A new generation of Southern designers are making a big splash to redefine Southern style in a fresh way.
Here’s how Gabby’s new products fit in…we introduced
- lightweight concrete in accent tables and lamps
- cut blocks of alabaster that was backlit with a alluring glow,
- mother of pearl and shell
- new, bright gold leaf finishes
- unique ways to hold lamp shades like hanging or resting in a tri-pod structure
- multifunctional pieces for scalable entertaining (several new c-tables).
- explorations mixing vintage and contemporary, traditional with a twist while staying simply sophisticated.
Our completely revamped showroom featured more walls to break up the space, a vastly improved bar, and office for easier order taking. Wallpapers from Thibaut and new floor treatments showed our furniture and lighting with style. New products dominated our best sellers lists, letting us know that we’re on the right track.
In evocative Gabby style, we entertained with a personable party called the “Midas Mixer”. Check photos out on Instagram and Facebook: #BeBoldGoGold #HPmkt. Entertaining our guests was DJ Gabby Gold and a bird taming, flame throwing magician.
A fully renovated and fully stocked bar quenched our thirsts. Gold themed subtleties that surrounded were delectable Ferrero Rocher® , gold chocolates, gold balloons, gold beaded necklaces, and “Be Bold” face stickers that went surprisingly fast. Everyone stayed late, street entrance and all.
